Disability

Most people with Meniere's disease continue to live normal lives, at least as far as the outside world can see. A few adjustments such as a reduction in social life, and periods of absence from work may become normal at stages of Meniere's, but most of the time life can carry on.

For those affected with frequent and severe attacks, full time employment may not be achievable or next to impossible. You may be looking to the Government for some form of financial assistance.

Incapacity Benefit (IB)
Attendance Allowance (AA)
Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

If you are unsure what you may be entitled to or want to talk a claim through before applying , my advice would be to speak to the Meniere's Society , Citizens Advice or Disability Rights Commission (see footer) who will have more experience in this field.

Click here to self assess your entitlement, on the Benefits Now website. This also links to their menieres specific page.
